Almost means something.

almost means something

THIS is more than a new lo•fi art-focused brand/studio. THIS is a philosophy which asserts that good enough is usually better than perfection. And anticipation is generally more… THIS is a celebration of the strange and awesome details found in all facets of life when you stop to look for them. THIS is reveling in visual abstractions and appreciating the absurdity and interconnectedness of every single thing we think that we know. THIS is a belief that just like a great song can transform your current mood or even change your entire outlook on life, quirky graphic designs can bring you incredible joy as they resonate with your complex inner thoughts and emotions. THIS is a vote for the importance of independent creators making quality things because they care. THIS is an acknowledgment that having motivation is its own rich reward and you must work hard to keep your dreams alive.

life is better in Lo•Fi

The look of high-contrast art has captivated me for as long as I can remember. Photocopied and collaged imagery connects with me at my core in ways that realistic images rarely do. Transforming photos & videos with halftone dots and gritty textures somehow amplifies reality while also obscuring it at the same time. THIS visual aesthetic relates to the traits that make us most human (brimming with flaws and awkwardness). THIS is the crux of what Lo•Fi means to me. THIS is the stimulus and guiding light for NEARLY.

Ink stamped paper card with the words "BONA FIDE Lo-Fi Apparel. High contrast graphics. Limited color palettes. Premium quality shirts. This is the good stuff!"

 let's talk t-shirts

I’ve been disappointed with graphic tees I've bought in recent years, far too often. The designs may be fantastic but the overall shirt quality is lacking. The blanks are cheap, ill-fitting or both. Don't even get me started about all the various, compromised 'print-on-demand' options you can be saddened by these days. Most folks just seem more concerned with making an easy sale and not with making a worthy product… So, I did what a highly opinionated designer with a t-shirt obsession must do. I started my own brand to make the kinds of shirts that I seek out. Life is too short to settle for half-ass tees.

After wearing and evaluating lots of blanks, I concluded the Comfort Colors 1717 shirt is the best option for THIS brand, right now. It is made from 100% cotton and feels wonderfully soft. It has a relaxed fit, meaning it is not oversized, not a tight "athletic cut" (which has been the norm for far too long, IMHO)… it fits just right. THIS shirt is garment-dyed, which gives it an especially lovely, already broken-in vibe and a slightly faded/vintage appearance. It checks all the "desirable traits a t-shirt should possess" boxes for me. This is the good stuff!

so much gratitude

Thanks for your interest in THIS absurd endeavor! I am stoked to make THIS stuff and send it straight to your mailbox. Please tell your t-shirt loving friends about THIS. I make all attempts to ship orders in timely fashion (usually the next day). But please realize THIS is a single-person operation. Patience is appreciated.
